What is an Emocoin? They are colorful acrylic coins. These coins are engraved with the name of an emotion and the face of our book characters expressing the emotion.

The Treasure Box is designed to help kids learn about their emotions. Our emotions are all good. They serve a purpose. We just need to learn how to manage them. Our heart is like a treasure box and we need to protect what gets planted in the heart. What is planted must be harvested with right thinking.
Proverbs 12:23 speaks to this. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Ephesians 4:26-27 If you are angry don't sin by nursing your grudge. Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, work through it quickly, so you do not give the devil a foothold in your life.
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Creating a DAILY habit of caring for the heart can bring a big return of peace and joy before we end the day. It is like doing a daily cleaning on your heart. Sweeping away the cares and hurts of the day.
As you begin to use the box maybe try before bedtime or after or during an evening meal.
1) Discuss and talk about the BIG emotional things that happened. Good or bad.
2) Help them name the feeling or emotion tied to the event and put that coin in the box.
3) If it is a negative coin. Help them walk through the event again. When the emotion is felt invite Jesus in. Ask Him to speak to the child about His love over the situation and to come take the hurt with Him. We can give Him our pain and He will carry it for us. We can release it to Him.
Then help guide them through forgiving a person who may have hurt me. Maybe it might even be themselves. The goal is to replace the negativie emotion coin with the peace, love or joy coin. Keeping the heart soft and flowing free from painful emotions. We want to remove the opportunity for future problems as best we can. Life is not free of pain or suffering but learning the process of going through those times will help us use pain to grow and mature.
